Hello, and welcome to Dennis TV! I wanted to take the time to
tell a little about myself and this channel. Enjoy your time here,
and please respect everyone. We are here to relax and enjoy each
other's company.
My name is Dennis, and I am a lifecaster. A lifecaster is in
essence a person who films his life live on cam for the world to
see. Most lifecasters don't interact with the channel, they
actually pretend the camera doesn't even exist. Now, having said
that I can a-test that I am not your average lifecaster. I do, in
fact, socialize with my channel. Anyway, I digress. I am 27
years old, living in the big Apple, New York City, NY USA
and have been broadcasting on JTV since September 5, 2007. Old
school JTV broadcasters represent! What Whaaaat?
I started broadcasting back on Ustream.tv in April of '07 when
Justin.tv was in very closed beta. I submitted my application to
become a tester and present my life to the Justin.tv world. After
careful review, Michael (CEO of Justin.TV) joined my channel on
Ustream and invited me over. Since then I have been broadcasting on
JTV and loving it.
Now, broadcasting my life publicly was not an easy task, but it was
a fun one. I had stalkers, pranksters, Anon, and several other
raiders attempt to destroy my experience. Sometimes they won, but
my amazing fans kept me going. After about a year, broadcasting my
life in first person mobile became a rather daunting task and with
the crappy technology I was using at the time, it just didn't
suffice. I stopped the true lifecasting experience and just stuck
to my singing and entertaining my awesome fans.
I have met many awesome people from JTV in person, and almost all
of them I keep in touch with. Arnaud (fromparis) is probably
one of the greatest friends I have and I met him on JTV.
Madeline_04, another amazing friend who always has my back.
She started a donation jug if you will when working at a bar in
Tulsa called "Pennies for Dennis!" I made around 6.00. It
was awesome! Not only that, but she is very giving, and honest. She
surprised me with t-shirts on my birthday! Ha. Ekk123 is one
of my longest standing mods and viewers. She has been around since
the start and has probably never missed a broadcast. Loyal fan, and
good friend. The list is rather large, so why don't I just write up
a thank you list elsewhere! Not only have I met great friends, but
met many brilliant minds and people savvy with the entertainment
industry. Connections... Just like working in the hospitality
world, you meet awesome people who can change your life by offering
a better job, or making your dreams come true by sharing your
talent with important people. This is why broadcasting has become
so important to me recently. The fans, and connections. Though
sometimes I can be a real douche, and completely incoherent with my
surroundings, I still love sharing my life and laughs with you.
Continuing from the last paragraph there, I want to reiterate that
the followers that I have acquired and the views as well come from
a lot of hard work, and patience. You new broadcasters out there
shouldn't give up if you don't have any views. Just try to do
something entertaining, or actually talk to your channel viewers
when you get them. Patience.
Nice story you typed up, brah, but this isn't JTV. What gives?
Well, good question. I am a friend of Mark V. and have supported
him since the early days. He invited me to help beta test his new
service years ago and I obliged. As time progressed, the service
has improved very much, and is actually a joy to stream on. I am
also here, because I feel it is important to network as much as
possible and meet new people. Sitting around on one platform will
never get your voice heard. So, that is another reason. I will do
my best to keep this cast going on both sites when I can.
I'm not going to answer the most frequently asked questions right
here. Instead, I would like you to fixate on http://ask.fm/kiokemon for those questions and
answers. It's a work in progress and will always continue to be
updated. Please feel free to ask ANY question through that website.
I promise you I will answer if it is valid and unoffensive.
Freedom of Speech in my Channel's chatroom:
Freedom of expression has never meant that a person could use
language however she or he saw fit. Freedom of expression was
defended on the grounds that rational discourse paid off immensely
with respect to education, politics, and personal growth. However
language as a tool can serve more than just this purpose. Language
can be used in many ways, including as a tool to hurt others.
There is no such concept as absolute freedom of speech. Life
would be quite unlivable if everyone were to be encouraged or for
that matter permitted to speak their mind without second thought
for the consequences. Absolute freedom of speech would constitute
an infringement on freedom to live. There appears to be a fairly
common mis-perception that freedom equals license; that being free
to do something means you possess an irrevocable license to do it.
What seems to be lacking is an understanding that our "rights" also
confer an irrevocable responsibility to exercise our freedoms
intelligently and responsibly.
IN FACT the first amendment of the US Constitution says:
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of
religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging
the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people
peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress
of grievances."
This amendment places a limit on the CONGRESS, and by
association the government. There is absolutely
NOTHING in there which places a limitation on a person or
company to regulate speech in their chat room or forum they
provide. Therefore if a website owner, presuming it isn't the U.S.
government, wants to restrict speech on their sites there is
nothing to prohibit them from doing so. Not to mention the
fact that the U.S. constitution comes to a screaming halt at their
border, and contrary to popular American belief, there is a whole
world beyond that is certainly not governed by the U.S.
Laughably it seems as though most people approve of free speech,
but only when they approve of the content of that speech. As soon
as the speech turns to political views they dislike or sexual
material that offends them, the principle of freedom of speech
disappears!
I want to thank you guys again for visiting my channel, and I want
to throw a huge thank you to my Mods and close friends in the
channel. You guys make this experience worth every minute, and you
truly have my back. Thank you.
